Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be cured with Reflexology?
Reflexology does not claim to cure, I will never ask you to amend or stop taking any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner. If you are under a doctor’s care, you will always be advised to inform your doctor that you are receiving Reflexology.
Is Reflexology covered by my Private Health Insurance?
Many private health care plans now cover Complementary Therapies from suitably qualified practitioners.
What do I wear for Reflexology?
You are advised to wear comfortable shoes to and from your appointment. During the session you need only remove your shoes and socks.
How is Thai Reflexology different?
The difference is that a small stick is used by the practitioner as well as their hands to apply pressure to the feet or hands to assist with the release of any imbalances.
Are there any side effects?
As with any therapy involving pressure massage, both Reflexologies aim to rid the body of toxins that are stagnant in the body. As these toxins are in the circulation ready to be expelled from the body they may set up a temporary reaction. Headaches, nausea, bad dreams or frequent urination are the most usual. Not everyone has these and it is important to note that they are only temporary. You are advised to drink water to help to flush the system quickly, to avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks in order to make the most of your treatment.
What will happen and what do I wear for Reiki?
You may lie or sit in a comfortable and peaceful environment and will not be asked to remove any clothing; however it is best to wear comfortable clothing. Hands are gently placed in a series of positions, on or over the body. Your system automatically draws in only as much Reiki as is needed, using it in whatever way is most appropriate at the time. Reiki may be felt as a flow of energy, mild tingling, warmth, coolness, other sensations, or nothing at all. Treatment is enhanced if one can rest for a while afterwards and drink plenty of water to help the body detox. The beneficial effects may be felt for several days.
What is the procedure for a treatment?
Before any treatment a full personal and medical history is taken in a pre-treatment consultation. It is advisable that clients wear comfortable cloathing, drink water or decaffeinated drinks and avoid alcohol after a treatment. This is to promote the detoxification process and help in the elimination of toxins that have been released.
